


About Meera
Meera is now an assistant professor at University of Victoria. Prior to this appointment, her post doctoral research focused on translating her work in queer mental health to health systems.
She spent 15 years in the non profit sector in Toronto, in front line, program planning and development in the anti violence sector, homelessness and housing and the HIV/AIDS sector. After completion of her Master of Social Work degree she moved into health care, hospitals and palliative care. Since 2013 Meera has worked as a narrative therapist, clinical supervisor in private practice and as a consultant to teams and organizations.
Meera has taught in the Master of Counselling program as Associate Faculty at City University of Seattle, Vancouver Island campus, and schools of social work at Toronto Metropolitan University and University of British Columbia.
Meera’s doctoral research focused on the use of queer of colour cultural knowledge and scholarship to integrate lived experience into professional practice.
Her work can transform the education and professional practice in mental health practice.
